VAFS Competitor Scheduled for Entry Februrary 2009
On Februrary 1, 2009, a new online pilot reporting system is scheduled to enter the FSX virtual airline market. Pirep Systems (www.pirepsystems.tk) is currently showcasing a demo version of their latest pirep software on their website and is looking to garner interest as they work toward a February 2009 launch. Viva Las Vegas: Premier Airways Moves to McCarran
Premier Airways recently announced they will be moving their hub from Mineta San Jose International Airport, California to McCarran International in Las Vegas Nevada. Premier Airways President and CEO stated “in our current economic challenges, we must utilize the attraction of an airport such as McCarran”. Paul Herman also stated “we will operate expanded flight operations from Las Vegas to the entire west coast as well as main destinations throughout the United States”. The Hawaii Express ‘Contemporary’ Arrives Ahead of Schedule
Previously scheduled for creation early in 2009, The Hawaii Express (www.thehawaiiexpress.com) entry into the contemporary virtual airline market has been fast-tracked with the acquisition of an Airbus Industrie A380 aircraft. This move into the modern marketplace comes after weeks of deliberation over aircraft types, routes, and back-stories. ‘Flying Dutchmen:’ Wings Over Holland, launch FSX-based Flight School
It is clear that the English-speaking community makes up the largest percentage of FSX multiplayer users and entering English-speaking sessions can be very intimidating for non-native speakers (and native speakers too). In an effort to help combat this situation, Wings Over Holland, a Dutch organization most recently affiliated with Birmingham Virtual Airport, has started a flight school utilizing FSX to allow their pilots the extended opportunity not only to learn flight skills, but the English language as well. The Wings Over Holland Flight School trains their Dutch pilots using English aviation terminology while providing the necessary flight skills training- all in a safe and friendly environment. Flock-Air First VA with FSX Mission
Flock-Air (Flock-Air.com) has published their own FSX Training Mission available to their members for free download. This stems from large numbers of requests for Training and Certification from its pilot base. SynerJet VA takes Synergy ATC Academy into the Skies
Synergy ATC Academy recently began the necessary steps to launch its virtual airline, SynerJet Virtual. Preliminary plans call for a Phoenix, Arizona (KPHX) and Dubai, U.A.E. (OMDB) base with a diverse fleet of aircraft in both passenger and cargo configurations. Premier Airways Begins Canadian Service
Boston-based Premier Airways announced the introduction of Premier North this week, bringing inner Canadian service to the US based airline. Currently operating from Hamilton, Ontario, Premier North serves Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec, Halifax and Boston. Premier North operates a small fleet of a Boeing 737-400 and a 737-700NG. Further expansion is expected in November to Thunder Bay, Moncton and Calgary. Continue reading
