U.K.-based Virtual FlyMonarch is just days away from their proposed January 4, 2009 entry into the virtual aviation market. Modeled after the real-world operations of Monarch Airlines, Virtual FlyMonarch is looking to provide charter and low-cost services in the same fashion and tradition as their real-world counterparts. Separating the company from the competition is their use of fully-rendered aircraft models incorporating the latest flight management computer (FMC) software ensuring the Virtual FlyMonarch experience is as real as it gets. Early 2009 Fleet Change at flyScandinavia Virtual
In a recent move to revamp its fleet, flyScandinavia (flyscandivania.co.cc) has decided to replace its Avro RJ100 aircraft with a pair of Fokker 100’s, most recently of Air Berlin registration. This decision comes after an evaluation process that saw the Airbus A318 and Fokker 100 competing for the Freidrichshafen, Germany and Brussels, Belgium routes from flyScandinavia’s Bromma, Sweden hub. fly Scandinavia’s Jet Connect division also saw a change in their fleet as the proposed acquisition of two Dornier 328Jet aircraft was scrubbed in favor of a third Embraer 145 aircraft. The company is looking at an early January 2009 launch date for its new slogan, “Scandinavia has never been closer,” with a brand new website and the new E145 aircraft entering service. flyScandinavia Virtual Celebrates Pre-Christmas Launch
On December 23, 2008, the FSX virtual airline market witnessed the introduction of flyScandinavia Virtual and its Stokhom-based operations. The Scandinavian airline has a fleet of two Pratt & Whitney-powered Airbus A318s, and an Avro RJ100 on a short-term lease, with a Dornier 328Jet, and Embraer 145 in the works. Eagle Wings Spreads its Wings with On-Time Launch

Originating from their main hub in Zagreb, Croatia (LDZA), the planned flight was part of a larger celebration marking the tenth anniversary of the IVAO Network and the start of the IVAO Croatia division. AirWeGo and Vertigo Upgrade to FSX
In a release dated, December 22, 2008, U.K.-based AirWeGo Virtual Aviation Group shared how massive amounts of time and energy have been directed at upgrading Vertigo, a division of AirWeGo dedicated to creating and reproducing real-world operations within Mircosoft Flight Simulator, to FSX standards. Helicopters were first introduced to the Flight Simulator community in FS98, and since, AirWeGo’s operations have steadily grown in: popularity, flight model complexity and realism. “A wide variety of missions and scenery have been created over the last eight years.” said the release, “covering the globe with scenarios ranging from VIP Transport, Oil Field Construction through to Expedition Logistics.”

California Express Re-Birth Rises from Shelved Merger Talks
Amidst talks of a merger that would have seen Air Fresno and Pacific Coast Cargo converge and consolidate their fleets to form a cargo-only operation, Air Fresno C.E.O., Peter McKay, and Pacific Coast Cargo C.E.O., John King, have instead decided to redevelop California Express, a venture sparked when Air Fresno closed in 2006. California Express will begin operations early next year utilizing the Boeing 737-300 aircraft incorporating upwards of twenty-five unique liveries.
Original plans called for a flight schedule based on real world flight times supplied by Southwest Airlines, and operating from San Diego (18 routes), Los Angeles (18 routes), San Jose (12 routes), San Francisco (6 routes), Orange County (6 routes), and Ontario (6 routes).
