American Airlines VAFS Celebrates Asiana VA Partnership

To celebrate the new codeshare between Asiana and American Airlines, American Airlines is hosting a group flight from Asiana’s hub in Incheon to American Airlines hub in Los Angeles. The group flight is to take place on the VATSIM network. American Airlines VA is searching for new pilots to help increase pilot turnout. Flight is on June 2nd at 1400z departing RKSI at 1430z. American Airlines VAFS is the first AAVA to participate in the VAFS financial system.

Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines Reports 200th Flight

With a cargo charter flight from Frankfurt/Germany to Tolmachevo/Russia, Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines just performed it‘s 200th flight. After 5.48 hours of flight, Senior First Officer Kalle Hacker landed the B744 (registration 9G-YAA) safely at Tolmachevo.

Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines is Ghana’s first virtual airline. It was founded Christmas 2011 and currently has 45 pilots. The VA operates scheduled passenger flights as well as cargo and vintage charter flights. It is associated with Vatsim Central Africa Division (VATCAF) and supported by the real world Aviation Club Ghana (ACG).

bluWave Airlines Names Johnathan Neilsen COO

Henderson, NV — bluWave Airlines, Inc. is pleased to announce that Johnathon Neilsen of Southern Australia, formerly with Qantas Virtual Airlines until 2011, is now the Chief Operating Officer for the company. As of Monday, Neilsen began overseeing bluWave’s expansion into high revenue destinations, such as the Bay Area, and is soon-to-debut further plans as part of his strategy for 2012.

Expansion plans for 2012, along with Neilsen’s hiring, came ahead of a remarkable first quarter (Q1 2012) that the airline supposedly disclosed to its investors late last month. According to Mike Dovi of Matrix Advisors, the airline’s largest investor, the company increased their overall revenue by 15% compared to quarterly earnings in Q1 2011.

“Johnathon’s expertise in this industry will allow us to explore new avenues of business and will improve the way we currently conduct our operation,” President and CEO Connor Levens said. “He has the insight that can provide us with what we need to offer even more services to our passengers and our pilots.”

While a part of Qantas Virtual’s management team in New South Wales, Australia, Neilsen served the airline as their Vice President of Scheduling. Throughout his career at the company, he was responsible for maintaining the validity of Qantas Virtual’s operation as it compared to the way the airline operated from a realistic sense. Neilsen’s background and experience at his previous place of employment, combined with over 2,500 hours on the VATSIM network, positions him uniquely as bluWave’s latest addition to their staff.

“I’m excited to join bluWave. This is going to be a pivotal year for this airline and I hope my involvement with its expansion can bring a slew of resources to both Connor and the employees here,” said Neilsen. “The initiatives this airline is planning speak to the way we listen to our customers. We’re always interested in hearing about what they want, and we’re always eager to figure out how we can get them what they want.”

Investors voted unanimously to bring Neilsen onboard last Friday.

Platinum Airways, the very virtual Open Skies airline, is facing a sporty month of June. Urging its pilots to Stretch your legs, the Open Skies virtual airline’s Destination of the Week will visit four major sports events in North America and Europe.

June promises to be an excellent month for sports fanatics and Platinum Airways’ Destination of the Week will fly them to their destination. Stretch your legs kicks off with the Canadian Formula 1 Grand Prix, held at Montréal (CYUL) on 10 June. Next on the calendar is the US Golf Open in San Francisco (KSFO) from 14 to 17 June. From there, Platinum Airways’ Destination of the Week theme crosses the Atlantic, to witness the start of the Championships at Wimbledon on the outskirts of London (EGLL) (25 June to 8 July). As per usual, all DOTW destinations will be accompanied with navigational charts, links to scenery files (FS9, FSX and X-Plane) and other aids. Pilots visiting a current DOTW are rewarded with a 5% bonus. Past DOTW’s remain available to pilots through an archive system.

Air Fresno to Declare Chapter 11

Citing an over extension of it’s routes and loss of passengers to other carriers Air Fresno has contacted noted local Fresno attorney Corin Agabajian with it’s intention to declare insolvency. The airline has not made a profit since leasing a number of Embraer jets and expanding its routes northward to Seattle and into Arizona with stops in Phoenix and Tucson. “I think with the airline in Chapter 11 we can get out from under these leases with Embraer and in a few months be able to resume regional turboprop operations that will be supported out of Fresno”. Since March many flights have been cancelled for lack of ticket sales, employee layoffs and other cost cutting measures just have not met expectations. The airline does still own a small fleet of Beech 1900D’s that have been stored at the Mojave Spaceport since the summer of 2009, Air Fresno CEO Peter McKay stated that once the Embraers have been returned efforts to restore them to flying condition will be made. The airline declared Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2003 due to a number of accidents and the subsequent law suits that saw the carrier lose its operating insurance.
