Golden Ghana VA Reports 1000th flight!

With a charter cargo flight from Johannesburg/South Africa to Atlanta/USA, Golden Ghana VA performed it’s 1000th flight since the founding of the virtual airline in 2011. After a flight time of 17 hours and 32 minutes, the Boeing 777 Freighter, registration 9G-YDG, landed safely at Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport.

Major schedule update for Ghana’s first virtual airline

Today, Accra based Golden Ghana VA (ICAO: GOG) has announced a major schedule update. These are the changes:

1. More flights from/to Europe Additionally to the existing destinations London (Heathrow and Gatwick) and Frankfurt, Golden Ghana VA now also serves Amsterdam, Istanbul and Vienna. This decision is based on the excellent VATSIM traffic numbers for these airports.

2. Dubai replaces Riad
Golden Ghana VA is now daily flying from/to Dubai. The hitherto existing Airbus A330 route to Riad has been removed.

3. More Boeing 777 flights
The new destinations Amsterdam, Vienna and Dubai are all served by newly acquired Boeing 777. Main reason is that both for Microsoft Flight Simulator as for X-Plane, there are excellent addons available for this aircraft type which currently seem to be most popular for long range flights. Also the destination Nairobi is now served by a Boeing 777 and not anymore by a Boeing 787.

4. Major schedule clean-up
Routes and aircraft with only little demand by the pilots have been removed, keeping the schedule clean and clear.

Golden Ghana VA adds Boeing 777 routes to Frankfurt and Heathrow

Today, Accra based Golden Ghana VA (ICAO: GOG) starts Boeing 777 flights to Frankfurt (EDDF) and London-Heathrow (EGLL). Two newly acquired Boeing 777-200LR operate from Ghana’s capital to Germany and Great Britain on a daily basis. The flights leave Accra at 0820 UTC to Frankfurt and at 0730 UTC to London. The return flights start at 1500 UTC and 1430 UTC.

Additionally, another Boeing 777-200 remains available for charter cargo flights to any destination at customer’s option. The Boeing 757-200 that formerly served Heathrow is now rescheduled to operate from/to London Gatwick (EGKK).

Golden Ghana VA Starts Operations to Sydney

On August 28th, Accra based Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines announced a new aircraft and a new destination: A Boeing 747-400, registration 9G-AEA, now serves Sydney/Australia via Johannesburg/South Africa. It’s the first Australian destination for GOG VA and also the first scheduled passenger route with the Boeing 747.

Flights to Johannesburg and Sydney are departing from Accra International on tuesdays, thursdays and sundays; the return flights take place on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Flight time is calculated with 5:10 hours for Accra to Johannesburg and 12:13 hours for Johannesburg to Sydney.

Golden Ghana VA: New Flights at Nigeria

Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines has just extended it’s services in Nigeria. Based at Lagos (DNMM), a new Boeing 737-800 (registration 9G-AAH) now serves the following cities:

- Abuja (DNAA)
- Benin City (DNBE)
- Calabar (DNCA)
- Jos (DNJO)
- Port Harcourt (DNPO)
- Kano (DNKN)

The new schedule is a result of the increasing traffic at Nigeria both in real life and at VATSIM. We hope you enjoy the new routes and have some great flights at Western Africa.

Another GOG milestone: 500th flight!

With an charter trip from Munich (Germany) to Praha (Czech Republic), our member Mikolai Staniszewski helped us to achieve another milestone: It was the 500th flight at Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines! Mikolai was flying an Airbus A320 on this trip and made a safe landing at Praha.

Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines Celebrates it’s First Birthday / Special Schedule and Birthday Livery Released!

Today, Golden Ghana VA released a special schedule to celebrate it’s first birthday. The new timetable features seven cities between Accra/Ghana and Yaounde/Cameroon. Seen from above, the flights between these cities will draw a big “G” on the map of Western Africa.

The flights will be performed with two additional aircraft in the GOG fleet: In the morning at 0600 UTC, a Boeing 737-800 departs at Accra to the East, while at the same time a Bombardier Canadair CRJ200 starts from Yaounde to the West. In the evening, both aircraft will return to their origin.

Both aircraft are painted in a new GOG Birthday livery created by Mr. Ingo Patzke. This livery is available for addons to Flight Simulator 9, Flight Simulator X and X-Plane. The screenshot shows the EADT x737 for X-Plane at the airport of Accra.

Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines reports first US flight

On June 17th, 2012 the first Golden Ghana VA flight arrived at the United States: After 10 hours and 21 minutes flight time, GOG8818 landed safely at New York JFK airport. The Boeing 767-300 (registration 9G-ACA) had 226 passengers on board. PIC was Senior First Officer Kalle Hacker.

Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines Now Flies to New York and London!

Effective immediately, Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines operates flights to New York and London. New York JFK is served by a Boeing 767-300, London Heathrow by a Boeing 757-200.
