Starting in the current Capital of Ottawa we head west to Toronto, Winnipeg and the western provincial capitals. From there we turn north to visit the 3 territory capitals and then on to the East coast provincial capitals along with Quebec City. At which point we head for the final stop of Kingston Ontario, Canada’s first capital and home of Confederation.

This is a multi-leg 7,000nm journey, which will be flown in Canadian Built aircraft. For the longer legs sit back and enjoy the cruising comfort of the Bombardier CRJ-700. On the shorter to mid length flights look for the quick handling short field performance of the Bombardier Dash 8-Q400. And for those mountain passage legs and short east coast hops, the DeHavilland Dash 6-Q300 Twin Otter makes for a great scenic VFR ride.

This month, we depart from Iqaluit (CYFB) and head to Saint Johns (CYYT) and then on to Halifax (CYHZ) with any Canadian Xpress® Bombardier or DeHavilland aircraft that are available to all pilots regardless of rank, but only for the challenge.

Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including:
• Aerosoft Products
• Bonus Flight Hours
• Canadian Xpress Monthly Challenge Award

The May 2017 Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress® pilots from May 2nd, until May 29th, 2017.

Since this our first try at this new format, it’s totally up to the pilot to choose a route and aircraft (as long as you’re rated for it).

The real world ops title says it all. Pick a real world flight and fly it online at the same time the real flight is making the same flight in the real world. This however means there is no time offsetting allowed. So if you choose to fly during daylight hours, you will have to pick a fight that is flying somewhere in the world at the same time.

The easiest way to pick a fight is to visit http://flightaware.com and select a flight. You can browse flights by airport, aircraft type or real world airline.

Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including:
• Aerosoft Products
• Bonus Flight Hours
• Canadian Xpress Monthly Challenge Award

The December 2016 Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress® pilots from December 3rd until December 30th, 2016.

We have all seen the countless YouTube videos of the crazy crosswind landings at Birmingham Airport. Well it’s your turn to try your hand at it. Birmingham Airport (EGBB) formerly Birmingham International Airport is located 5.5 nautical miles (10.2 km; 6.3 mi) east southeast of Birmingham city centre, at Bickenhill in Solihull, England.

It has a CAA Public Use Aerodrome Licence (Number P451) that allows flights for the public transport of passengers or for flying instruction. Passenger throughput in 2015 was over 10.1 million, making Birmingham the seventh busiest airport in the UK. The airport offers both domestic flights within the UK, and international flights to destinations in Europe, the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, North America and the Caribbean. Birmingham Airport is an operating base for Flybe, Monarch, Ryanair, Thomas Cook Airlines, and Thomson Airways. From March 2017 the airport will be a base for Jet2.com.

Strangely enough the airport is 48% owned by the Ontario (Canada) Teacher’s Pension Plan.

This month, the challenge is to pick your favorite Canadian Xpress® jet aircraft and depart from Dusseldorf (EDDL) Germany’s 3rd largest airport that can handle aircraft as large as the Airbus A380 and fly to Birmingham Airport (EGBB).

Join Canadian Xpress today in order to participate as there are some great prizes to be won including:
• Aerosoft Products
• Bonus Flight Hours
• Canadian Xpress Monthly Challenge Award

The November 2016 Challenge is open to all Canadian Xpress® pilots from November 2nd until November 29th, 2016.

This month, we depart Marseille Provence Airport (LFML) and travel to Courchevel is an airport serving Courchevel (LFML), a ski resort in the French Alps. The airfield has a very short runway of only 537 metres (1,762 ft) with a gradient of 18.6%.

There is no go-around procedure for landings at Courchevel, due to the surrounding mountainous terrain. De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otters and DHC-7 turboprops served the airport in the past; however, the airfield primarily sees smaller fixed-wing aircraft such as Cessnas as well as helicopters at present. The runway has no instrument approach procedure or lighting aids, thus making landing in fog and low clouds unsafe and almost impossible.

The airport is considered dangerous, as it features a difficult approach, an upslope runway and ski runs in the adjacent area. The History Channel program Most Extreme Airports ranks it as the seventh most dangerous airport in the world.

Runway 14/32 is the longest publicly used runway in the world, at 18,045 ft or 3.42 miles. Until 2013, Qamdo-Bangda (ZUBD) was the highest airport in the world. That title is now held by Daocheng Yading Airport which is 238 ft higher, however no scenery is currently available to support an event.

The low air density at this altitude makes a higher takeoff and landing true airspeed necessary, and therefore a longer runway. The airport is 2.5 hours by mountain road from the county seat of Chamdu. The long commute is the result of no flat land closer to the city being available to construct an airport. Visitors are warned before landing to move slowly on leaving the plane and that they may feel light headed or dizzy because of the thin air.

Qamdo-Bangda (ZUBD) is not in FS by default, you must add the scenery and update any nav databases (Plan-G, FSC, etc.) before making this flight.

Saba, Juancho E. Yrausquin Airport has the shortest commercial runway in the world, only 396 meters (1,299 ft) long, flanked on one side by high hills, with cliffs that drop into the sea at both ends.

Saint Barthélemy, Gustaf III Airport short airstrip is at the base of a gentle slope ending directly on the beach. The arrival descent is extremely steep over the hilltop traffic circle; departing planes fly right over the heads of sunbathers. Ranked the 3rd most extreme airport in the world by The History Channel.

This month, your mission is to depart from Princess Juliana (TNCM) on the Island of Saint Maarten with the Canadian Xpress DeHavilland Dash 6-Q300 and fly to Saba (SABA or TNCS) then on to Saint Barthélemy (TFFJ) before returning to Princess Juliana (TNCM).
