Major schedule update for Ghana’s first virtual airline

Today, Accra based Golden Ghana VA (ICAO: GOG) has announced a major schedule update. These are the changes:

1. More flights from/to Europe Additionally to the existing destinations London (Heathrow and Gatwick) and Frankfurt, Golden Ghana VA now also serves Amsterdam, Istanbul and Vienna. This decision is based on the excellent VATSIM traffic numbers for these airports.

2. Dubai replaces Riad
Golden Ghana VA is now daily flying from/to Dubai. The hitherto existing Airbus A330 route to Riad has been removed.

3. More Boeing 777 flights
The new destinations Amsterdam, Vienna and Dubai are all served by newly acquired Boeing 777. Main reason is that both for Microsoft Flight Simulator as for X-Plane, there are excellent addons available for this aircraft type which currently seem to be most popular for long range flights. Also the destination Nairobi is now served by a Boeing 777 and not anymore by a Boeing 787.

4. Major schedule clean-up
Routes and aircraft with only little demand by the pilots have been removed, keeping the schedule clean and clear.

About Golden Ghana VA:
Golden Ghana Virtual Airlines is Ghana’s first virtual airline. It was founded Christmas 2011 and currently has 46 pilots. The VA operates scheduled passenger flights as well as cargo charter flights. It is associated with Vatsim Central Africa Division (VATCAF) and supported by the real world Aviation Club Ghana (ACG).

May 2014 will see the launch of services to five new destinations in Europe and North America. Flights to Ibiza, Lanzarote, Dalaman, Las Vegas and Cancun are expected to be launched later this year from Glasgow and Manchester.

London/Gatwick Hub Announced
Last year, freshJet asked the public to decide where their new UK base should be located, to which the majority responded London/Gatwick. It has since been decided that freshJet will establish a new base there in May 2014. Initially, 2 Airbus A320s will be based at Gatwick, and will operate to Glasgow, Belfast, Manchester, Amsterdam, Alicante, Palma, Malaga and Tenerife South. Long-haul operations are expected to begin in July, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft to Orlando.

Belfast International Hub to Close
Despite its initial success, our Belfast base has declined rapidly in recent years and has since become our smallest hub, with only one aircraft based there. freshJet management have concluded that the Belfast hub will be officially closed in May 2014. Belfast will however continue to be served from other UK bases on domestic services, which remain popular at Belfast.

Additional Airbus A320 Order
Last month we placed an order for an additional 3 Airbus A320 aircraft, bringing the total A320 family fleet size to 11. The aircraft will be deployed alongside the existing fleet on routes from the UK to a variety of destinations.

In addition, we expect to take delivery of our second A330 prior to the S14 season.

Columbus, OH— Over the last Month Ohio Express has ordered several new aircraft to accommodate the expanding regional carrier. Ohio Express leased 3 new Beechcraft 1900D, 5 Embraer 145 LR’s, 2 Embraer 190’s, and 1 Embraer 145 XR. “We decided to lease more of these planes because our pilot staff is growing and we didn’t have enough planes for our pilots. Now that we are expanding our rout network, our pilots can fly all over the Midwest and eastern United States, without having to worry about jump-seating to the next available aircraft. Going this route is also making us more profitable, less delays and confusion,” say CEO Justin Caughenbaugh.

Ohio Express has also announced that their Charter operations will begin at the beginning of April. Ohio express will lease an additional 2 planes, but they won’t be Embraer’s, instead they are rolling out their “Signature Series” the Boeing 737-800WL. The Charter Operations will be ran by John Farrington who is also the Director of training “Our new Signature Series 737′s will be Ohio Express’s flagship aircraft in our new charter operation. We will be branching across the United States and neighboring countries flying our elite clients to new exciting destinations. Trips can vary from a simple short hop, to a long haul with multiple destinations. Our pilots will get so see new exotic places soaring high in our new Signature Series 737-800s.”

We are Hiring
Great News we are looking for those pilots who want to get the most from their flight sim experience, and a VA that allows opportunities for advancement to management and a staff for aspiring pilots. If you’re looking for the challenge of flying for a devoted airline, to destinations in the Midwest and select markets, and camaraderie of a group of pilots, visit us at www.ohioexpresva.com

Why should you join? Here is an excellent reason: We are well aware that there is a large range of VA’s on the web for you to choose from, and this number is growing every day. Most of the airlines out there mimic true airlines that you would find in the real world, but then you have a few like us which are ideas that our founders have thought of to become the best and reign over the popular and major airlines, but we are confident that we are operating as close to real-world operations as possible, our fleet is painted in both freeware and payware repaints. We have a decent amount of flights to choose from, and updated seasonally and all this backed by a friendly loyal team of staff all passionate about the airline and our valued pilots. We want every pilot to feel like they are part of the Ohio Express family and not just become another statistic and name on a roster The following is a very simple principle that we management hold very close to our hearts: Fun Realism Integrity Professionalism, so why not come and join our family oriented airline

What We Offer
At Ohio Express we offer, awards, and commendations as you progress through your airline career. We offer assistance in training with online flying with real world Certified flight instructors, Ohio Express offers a program that is in place to make sure pilots are going to be active within the airline called the “Buckeye Program” this program consist of 10 flight hrs. in the probationary period while flying the Beechcraft 1900D. VAFS offers a stock market option where pilots can buy shares into the airlines, however they like.

We are starting a very new and exciting project for a realistic virtual airline that is based off a real world airline. This airline is being created by real world pilots who are in their 20′s and are truly dedicated to aviation and Flight Simulator as a hobby. Our VA will be one of the most realistic in the industry, with personal pilot interviews with potential candidates. Each pilot will go through an interview with questions on:

Aviation procedures

Aircraft specific procedures

Aerodynamics

ATC procedures

Flight planning

IFR procedures

Charts

Our virtual airline will also incorporate type ratings for each aircraft. Most pilots will start out in turboprops and regional jets, then moving up to narrowbody jets, and so on. Each aircraft has a fun, unique, and rewarding type rating test with a small checkride, being a simple IFR flight, for our pilots to take advantage of. We plan to make it fun, professional, realistic, unique, and exiting, all at the same time. Our virtual airline will be one where you won’t ever feel the need to join another “logbook” time VA.

At the moment, we are hiring staff members for the following positions:

Vice Presidents and Director of Operations managers at all hubs

Chief Flight Officer (prefer someone with a real world Private or Instrument rating)

Training Officer (prefer someone with a real world Private or Instrument rating)

ROMULUS, MI, February 24th 2010 – Today Kim Gesch, Chief Operating Officer for MetroAir Virtual presented Cody Wilson as the new East Coast Operations Director. Wilson only joined MetroAir Virtual October 31st, 2009, but has evolved rapidly and was seeking ways of contributing more to the airline. MetroAir Virtual is very happy that Wilson gladly accepted the position he had been offered. In his new position as East Coast Operations Director he will be responsible for managing the schedules for both Washington, DC and Fort Lauderdale, FL operations.

Together with COO, Kim Gesch the newly appointed East Coast Operations Director is pleased to announce that, after extensive evaluation of the potential markets to be served from Kansas City, service flights to Detroit, Indianapolis, Memphis, Oklahoma City and New Orleans are available as of today.

Both regional and mainline services have been analyzed to provide optimum benefit to the entire MetroAir network. Prior to Hurricane Katrina, MSY served 9.7 million passengers per year, nearly all of them non-connecting. In 2009, it served 7,781,678 passengers, representing a decrease of 2.3% over the previous year. CEO Matt Calsada believes MetroAir will also benefit greatly from the addition to the network and hopes the addition will also benefit New Orleans in increasing it’s businesses.
