A short update on how things are going around in Citylink-va.com land.

- We have placed our first livery on Flightsim.com. This is the default livery of the Twin Otter. Hopefully it will bring us newer pilots.

- Summer has arrived. Due to our nearly third anniversary (which will be in September 2015), have we something very special in mind for our pilots.

We call it FreeFlight. What it means is this:
> You can fly your favorite plane from the VA and fly it anywhere in the world.
>Even stronger: if the VA does not have their favorite plane, we will add it in Acars.
>They can fly during 2 months. (July 1st-september 1st) With what they want to where they want.

Example:
>Fly around the world in a Twin Otter
>Do Moscow-Kamschatka in a C172
>Do a virtual aid mission from Cologne to Nepal in a C17
>Anything they can come up with is being accepted.
>This is probably a one time ever event

- Version 1.3 of the Qualitywings BAE 146-300 checklist is available in the shop. The pilots can buy it in the shop order Manuals as a complete package for the BAE 146-300

- Talks are going on that we will move our cargo schedules from Liege to Cologne. We will announce it, when it is due.

Flight1 Software has officially announced that all Ground Environment X region products have been released with major city texture and autogen updates. The latest GEX region patches supports both Flight Simulator X box edition and Flight Simulator Steam Edition. The patches are free to GEX users through the automated interface update system for all GEX regions. Simply click the ‘check for updates’ button in the GEX interface to download the patches and update the following products.

GEX NORTH AMERICA (GEX NA) v2.10: This patch is for GEX North America v2.0 and will have the highest visual impact on GEX North America. 95% of all cities in North America will be upgraded with new source textures autogen annotation as well as all new night lighting maps.

UTX USA/Canada/Tropics/Alaska – Double Bonus: We have upgraded the UTX LUX layers with new source textures and autogen annotation as well as updated the road night lighting to work in concert with the new UTX-3D night lights.

GEX EUROPE (GEX EU) v2.50: This patch is for GEX Europe v2.30-2.40 and will have the least overall graphic visual impact on Europe city daytime textures but will upgrade UTX Europe LUX features and night road lighting. However, this update includes landclass changes that work specifically with UTX Europe v2.0+ and are designed to work with the recently released UTX Europe v2.1. Europe city ‘graphics’ fall under a separate development cycle and will be updated at a later date. An announcement will be made when those updates are ready for release.

The patches for all GEX regions listed below will include a free upgrade to GEX North America version 2.10 with current or older versions of GEX NA installed:

LegionAir has some good news for 2015. We have a new flight tracking system installed for better tracking of your flight. Also a new search engine to help pilots find flights easier!

Also we have our cargo operation that has taken some time in getting up and running but its here. We have 3 cargo hubs KOAK, KMIA, and PANC. We have a vast amount of routes from each hub. Also we have the Cargo Ops module up with 3 airports that flights are based out of which is VHHH, EDDF, and OMDB. This will allow you pilots to get some flights all over the world and in the USA at random.

This year we have changed around our regional fleet. It is LegionAir Connect. The fleet at the moment consists of the E175, Dash 8 400. In the coming time we will add the CRJ 200, 700, 900 for flights.

Late last year we reach an agreement with GB Airlines to code share routes. We are hoping that 2015 will give us a greater opportunity to get more routes threw code sharing all over the world.

We do have a couple positions available for people who would like to be more involved with a va.
COO Passenger Operations
Media/Event Director
Pilots always looking for people to enjoy this hobby with. www.legionairva.org
To apply for the management positions you can join the va and get in contact with me or use the contact tab on the website.
Lastly some pictures of the new white liveries.

The work has been carried out by our newest member to join us, Andy who has given us a website we can be truly proud of, we now have a Operations manager for Flyglobespan, this has been filled by another long serving member Jack and we wish him all the best in his new role.

We have introduced another new airline Channel Airways which operates from EICK Cork International at the moment this only operates a fleet of 5 aircraft but there is plenty room for expansion at a later date.

Our pilots ages range from 18 – 50+ and some have many Years of experience with Flight Simulator’s of all types we also have a few former real life airline crew members within our ranks, so a wealth of knowledge is available to those who wish to learn.

We continue to show our presence on most media and download sites, for example FS2crew, PAD and of course right here on Flightsim.com, we now have an alliance with Fly Goconnect http://fly-goconnect.co.uk/ which grants us the opportunity to fly online by using Team Speak and linking both FS9 & FSX, so we can fly together visually too, which is Great fun and at times highly amusing. and of course not forgetting, Facebook where we have quite a significant following

https://www.facebook.com/ChannelExpressVirtual?ref=hl&ref_type=bookmark

Our ranking in the VA List and VA Central continue to improve at a steady rate but consistent although, VA Central is not functioning at the moment so nothing can be done about that one as yet.

We can be found here http://vacentral.net/airline/lxs_channelexpressvirtual

With the above in mind the changes to our hubs that have already happened are:

1. African operations are now based from the new hub recently completed at OR Tambo International Airport ICAO: FAOR.

2. US Operations at Newark Liberty International have moved to the facility at JFK International Airport and the Newark facility downgraded to a maintenance centre.

3. Caribbean Operations are now based at Princess Juliana International (TNCM) and the St Kitts facility closed but overnight parking/maintenance is still available there.

4. The hub at Hong Kong Chep Lap Kok has been downgraded to a distribution/maintenance facility and the main regional hub transferred to Singapore Changi (WSSS).

5. In addition the primary Asia-Pacific maintenance and repaint centre is now open and operational at Seletar Airport in Singapore (WSSL).

6. Both Indian hubs are now closed due to contractual changes to services in the region, until a new hub is established Leipzig will manage the remaining Eurasian contracts.

Changes due to happen in February/March

1. UK Operations will all be controlled from the hub at East Midlands Airport and the secondary hubs at Luton, Manchester and Dublin will be downgraded to distribution centres.

2. The hub at KLAX Los Angeles International will be downgraded to a distribution centre and hub operations moved to the new facility at KMIA Miami International.

3. The hub at Sydney Kingsford Intl will become a distribution centre and the hub operations transferred to Brisbane International.

Can I just say that if you want to continue flying routes from your usual base of operations that is fine, a change to the hub you come under does not stop you doing so. We will still be using most of the former hubs as either distribution centres or simply one of our regular airports so the routes in and out of them remain intact and you will have fuel and freight handling facilities there to load/unload you top up your tanks etc. as usual.

Since the start of MVA nearly two years ago, we have certainly grown a lot. We have added six Malaysian airlines to the VA, with all their schedules up to date. We are one of the biggest VA’s in Malaysia, and one of the biggest VA’s in South East Asia. With over 5000 pireps submitted since we started, and over 18,000 hours, and 6 million miles, we are going strong and show no sign of slowing down.

With Malaysian VACC coming soon, we will be positioned very well to expand further with new site add-ons and new aircraft, such as the mighty Airbus A380. MVA has now along with the real world counterpart started operations with the A380 on the Kuala Lumpur – London route.

We accept all new recruits, and offer them one of the friendliest VA’s on the net, and one of the best places to learn more about flying. With a dedicated team running MVA we are securing ourselves to be here for the long run. We have a TS server albeit down right now, but to return shortly, an easy to use forum, Malaysia Virtual Airlines is here for you. We will show you what MH truly means Malaysian Hospitality. To visit the site please go to http://malaysiava.org.

Regards
Daniel Counahan
CEO of Malaysia Virtual Airlines

November was a good month and the VA is now 3 months old. Pireps were slightly down with a total of 98 which is 6 down on last month but is still a great achievement. We stayed in and around the same rank on VA Central finishing the month at 114.

December’s tour is in the USA and is hosted by Mike Bow. It looks like a very interesting tour and should be alot of fun.

Looking at the VA forums most VA’s that fail usually fail in and around month 4 – 6 so I would ask you all to fly as much as possible to keep our VA alive. Mumbai hub was closed and Johannesburg was opened. I wish Liam our hub manager at Johannesburg the best of luck
with his hub.

Our a320′s were also released and the managers will be allocating them to their schedules and Aldergrove received our first B757 to cover KEWR – EGAA all painted by our wonderful fleet manager B Mason.

Have a good December and lets finish the year of in style with our best month yet.
