ATA releases Legacy division

ATA today announced it has released its much anticipated Legacy division, after three months of hard work.
This divison not only makes the total routes on ATAv’s scheduling system over one-thousand four-hundred, it also adds two aircraft to the fleet.
One aircraft, the Boeing 727 was slowly phased out as ATA received its 737-800s in 2001. ATA’s last 727 flight was ATA flight 8000 on May 8th, 2002 between Cancun and Chicago-O’Hare.

Pilots will also be allowed to operate the 25th anniversary livery that was once on an ATA 727. The other aircraft that has been added to the fleet is the Chicago Express Jetstream J31. Chicago Express was ATA’s regional subsidiary. They shut down on March 28th, 2005, and at the time operated fleet of Saab 340′s. Chicago Express retired its Jetstream J31s in mid-2000.

ATAv’s revamped CAT (ranking) system was also released today jointly with the Legacy division. The new CAT system is divided between aircraft rather than routes.
This offers the maximum in realism for all pilots, and permits some pilots to operate longer-haul routes than they were able to with the route divided CAT system. The new CAT system is expected to increase ATAv attendance at events, and the overall amount of time ATAv pilots spend flying.

Public Relations Director Ricardo L. Campos answered a few questions about the mood of everyone at ATAv’s offices: "The mood throughout the entire board room is ecstatic. We are all glad to finally have everything put together, and we’re hoping our pilots enjoy the benefits coming from the hard work put in by the board. This new division not only allows us more routes, with more destinations; however, it allows us to celebrate the rich history of our real world counterpart."

Chairman & CEO, Nick Bartolotta, commented at a press conference this afternoon: "The feeling you get when everything comes together is priceless, and without the efforts of our staff members, we wouldn’t have pulled it off. A special thanks goes out to Alec Peters, for working to get the schedules uploaded onto the ATAv website in short time. And especially to our Scheduling Director, Randy Jackson. We couldn’t have asked for a better team member, and he is a true example for the airline."
