VUSSP Gears Up For Weekend Launch Double-Header

Behind the scenes of the EWOS-2 and Unity-B1 missions,
preparations are being prepared and finalized for the two upcoming
launches.  The VUSSP will be attempting to launch two spacecraft
from Kennedy Space Center located in Cape Canaveral Florida on Friday
January 6, 2006.

EWOS-2, the second weather observation satellite in the Earth Weather
Observation Satellite System or (EWOSAT program) is scheduled for
launch at 5:30 pm EST (10:30 pm GMT).  The launch vehicle is a
Delta II (7925) medium payload, expendable launch vehicle and will be
conducted from Launch Complex 17A.

Unity-B1, the first launch of two to place a manned space station in
lunar orbit will be lifting off from Launch Complex 39A.  The
launch vehicle selected for this mission is the mighty Saturn V rocket,
capable of lifting heavy payloads to the moon and back.  The
Saturn V for this mission is a variation model of the actual Saturn V
rocket that takes astronauts to the moon and back.  Unity-B1 will
launch at 9:56 pm EST (2:56 pm GMT).

"The VUSSP has trained hard and even though these two missions will
overlap each other with one space vehicle launching while another is in
the process of stabilizing its orbit at geosynchronous orbit altitude,
im very confident that all three mission control teams that will be
participating in these launches will perform to the best of their
abilities.  The VUSSP posesses some of the brightest minds in the
virtual aviation community and we are more than fully capable of
pulling this off rather smoothly" commented Sutton about the upcoming
launches.

As with the successful EWOS-1 mission, both launches of EWOS-2 and
Unity-B1 will be broadcast to the public live and voice communications
will be opened for the public to listen in to.  Additional mission
information will be provided as it comes available.
