Lyon-Air VA Founding Member Ralph Hummel has announced today that the VA has officially commenced flight operations on January 21st 2006.“We are very pleased that we now offer to pilots the possibility to fly for our unique VA, where pilots can choose to fly charter flights all over the world or become involved with a motivating career mode based on type-ratings.”
The VA is based at Lyon in France but hopes to quickly expand flight-operatons into other parts of the world, with a focus on short and regional flights, utilizing aircraft from single-engine pistons to eventually the long-haul jets of today and tomorrow. At presents flights are being tested by career pilots for the Cessna-182 and Cessna 208.
“Pilot input and wishes are essential for us”, Mr. Hummel said. “The pilots are an essential part of the decision making at Lyon-Air VA and decide which flights will be included in the schedule, and which flights will be removed from the schedule if they prove unsuccessful. Anybody can become involved and suggest new routes. Our development from now on is based on what our members wishes and therefore has literally no limit. We will try to do our utmost best to accomodate them and hope that we can attract many pilots to join our fun and friendly virtual airline.”
