Flanders Airlines Orders Bombardier Dash 8 Q200

Antwerp based Flanders Airlines has only been operating for a week and is already expanding its fleet with two Bombardier Dash 8 Q200 aircraft.
Having 21 pilots, the airline registered 48 flight hours the first week.

“Due to demand by our passengers, the global market and our pilots, we have ordered two Bombardier turboprops, namely two Dash 8 Q200. The Q200 is a modern, quick, quiet and robust turboprop: a truly leader in his class! In the Flanders Airlines configuration there is room for 37 passengers (Premium Flanders and Flanders class), ” commented  the CEO of Flanders Airlines.

One Q200 will replace the ERJ-135 on the Amsterdam route. The other one will perform less occupied flights to Luxembourg, London City and Groningen.

The two planes (OO-FAL “City of Hasselt” and OO-FAK “City of Leuven”) will join the Flanders Airlines fleet in the beginning of June.

Special Eurovision flights
In May the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 take place in Athens. The Flanders Sun Airbus 321, OO-SUN, has been painted in a special Eurovision livery. It will perform some extra flights from and to Athens.
