New Dutch low cost carrier today received its first aircraft. Two Fokker 50 aircraft were rolled out of the paint shop at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and will be flown to their home bases Eindhoven and Rotterdam in The Netherlands.
Although the airline hasn't opened its doors yet, airline officials are confident the airline will become "a massive success."
"Airnetherlands will turn the Dutch aviation industry upside down, " a spokesperson said. "We will offer a great deal of cheap flights to destinations within The Netherlands as well as destinations in Europe."
The airline will use a fleet of Fokker 50 turboprop and Fokker 70 jet aircraft for their short- and middle range routes.
"We've chosen these aircraft simply because they suit to our needs and because they're Dutch made, " the spokesperson continued.
"I would like to express my thanks to our painter Steve, who has put his time and effort into this beautiful aircraft. "
An opening date is yet to be announced.
A preliminary website has been set up at http://www.airnetherlands.nl/
