Virgin America Virtual Airlines officially opened its doors. The founders, Melinda and Lloyd, started this airline together with a vision of bringing a fresh VA to the West Coast.
Says founder Lloyd O Boyette, “Based out of San Francisco, CA and directly supporting the West Coast operations of VATUSA we’re dedicated to making the new home one that virtual pilots will want fly and call home. The Virgin Brand has been around virtual airlines for quite some time, it’s not new. We aim to bring something new and hip to VATUSA with focus on real world data running the airline. ”
“We’re committed to making forward-looking investments that attract new pilots and become one of VATUSA’s major VAs on the West Coast ” said Lloyd O Boyette. “By showing support with aircraft and people to VATUSA events we hope to create a seamless, next generation gateway for virtual pilots to gather and learn about the virtual flying of commercial aircraft.”
As a begining to the journey Virgin America Virtual Airlines will be hosting the SFO / OAK Real Time event on March 21st, 2009 with the help of co-sponsors Oasis Airlines, Fusion Airlines, Virtual American Airlines and FedEx.
Virgin America currently flies the Airbus A320 family of aircraft to eight cities — San Francisco, Seattle, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Las Vegas, Boston, New York, and Washington – Dulles.
