SPA celebrates 5th anniversary

Five years ago,  Thomas Katsampes founded a small virtual airline
called St. Paul Commuter Air Service, which started out at St. Paul
Downtown airport (ICAO: KSTP). Thomas Katsampes is now retired from the VA, however the airline still exists.

Already that first year the airline started to add hubs and aircraft.
The VA was then renamed to St. Paul Airlines (SPA) and moved from KSTP to Minneapolis-St
Paul International Airport (ICAO: KMSP)

The airline now has three seperate fleets: passengers, cargo and charter.
"We fly various types of aircraft, from the King Air (Charter) to the 747-400 Cargo bird," says Ken Lemay, CEO of SPA.

        Denver, Dallas, Washington
and of course Minneapolis/St. Paul Int’l airport are todays main hubs
for this thriving airline. "We’ve got over 10,000 scheduled flights,
and are getting involved in the world of Vatsim" mr. Lemay adds

A quick look on their web
site shows us that this is not just another virtual airline. There is a
training department with NDB approaches and even an engine failure
lesson.
