VFR flying club announced

        Half Moon Air
Transport is a new VATSIM based flying club based at Half Moon Bay
Airport, (KHAF) Half Moon Bay, CA. The VFR club has no restrictions as
to which aircraft you choose to fly.

"First off, I should make it
clear that we are not a Virtual Airline in the common sense," said
spokesman Neil Parry.

        Half Moon Air Transport, or
HMAT is simply a list of flights and assignments that members can
choose to take if they so desire. There are no requirements to meet,
not timelines to fulfill, and no demands on your time. They are
strictly taken by choice of the member, who in turn can earn experience
points and a higher ranking as a result of completing assignments.

Neil explains how it works:

        "All the flights would be
created by myself. They would be broken down into 3 categories. Local,
Hops, and Long Hauls. If you decide you want to fly one of these
proposed flights, you will receive a briefing via the message board.
The briefing would indicate where to go, and what to do there, and all
relevant information to that flight and the airport(s) involved. Once
completed, you would report back and let us know how it went (again,
via the message board). You will be assigned experience points that can
be used to be "promoted" to a higher rank. The only rule is that if you
take an assignment, make sure you actually go out and fly it in the
virtual world. (Vatsim). "

He concludes: "Members have no obligation to take part. The idea is
more to suggest some good flights to pilots, and for fun. You can take
3 aircraft and make a group run out of it, or do it alone. I’ll be glad
to fly with anyone. "

"We are, and will continue to be , a VFR, all fun, no obligation club first, and foremost."
