VUSSP Makes Final Push For Manned Lunar Landing

It has been released by VUSSP HQ that the crew of the Apollo 19 mission
have been selected.  "This illustrious crew was selected based on
their talents, experience, and strengths.  They represent the
future of the VUSSP and they are a suiting representation of the
organization as two of these astronauts are new to the program, yet
they bring with them a rich enthusiasm never before seen." stated Head
Director Kaimoni Sutton.

The Apollo 19 mission will be the VUSSP’s first manned mission since
the organization’s reopening in late August of this year.  The
mission will center around the testing of the Lunar Excursion Module
(LEM for short) in lunar orbit.  While the specifics of the
mission have not been released as of yet, the mission is slated to take
place in mid to late December ’05.  The primary crew of Apollo 19
consists of:

-Commander Matthew Nowaczewski(2)
-Command Module Pilot Jason Goetz(1)
Lunar Module Pilot Steve LeDuke(1)

The backup crew consists of:

-Commander Troy Autry
-Command Module Pilot Jon Standley
-Lunar Module Pilot Matthew Eby(1)

The Apollo 19 mission will stand as the precursor to the VUSSP’s first
mission to place man on the moon, a goal established two years prior
but never recognized due to the construction of the Freedom Space
Station, no longer in orbit.
