Test your virtual airline

The Polish VACC has announced a new project called VARA. The main goal of VARA is to test the reliability of an airline from passengers’ point of view. A reliable airline is an airline which gets you on time to your destination: no delays, no canceled flights.

The first edition of VARA is scheduled Sunday 23 Oct from 1500-2100 UTC in vFIR Warsaw and Prague (LKPR), Berlin (EDDT) and Vilnius (EYVI) airports. The deadline for preliminary registration of a VA is Sunday October 16th

Each participating airline has to provide a realistic schedule with at least 10 flights. During the Fly In we register all delays and canceled flight. The result is the Reliability Index – it is approximately the percentage of flight which arrived on time.

Based on the Reliability Index, an airline can be granted VARA GOLD (RI at least 90%) or VARA (RI at least 75%). If an airline has a difficult timetable (many flights, many pilots, short aircraft turn around times), Reliability Index requirements are lower.

VARA is not a competition between airlines. You don’t fight against other pilots, you fight against all adversities and your goal is not to beat any airline, but to achieve the level required for VARA or VARA GOLD.
