Expected to run the new virtual airline is long time member of the community Erick Ortiz. Ortiz who is also Chief Executive Officer of Green Mountain Airlines has said he plans to “slowly back away from his position with GMA.”
“This is something new for me, I’ve been with GMA for 6 years, and I think it’s time for me to move on and take on a new challenge, and Metro Express is a fun small project, I’m not expecting us to get huge, were planning to stay with history and keep it simple, and small,” Ortiz commented.
Along with Ortiz, Tim Laswell who is currently Vice President of Green Mountain Airlines, will also be with Metro Express as President, Laswell is currently developing the EMX Automation System.
Eastern Metro Express will be operating out of Atlanta, with the J-31, and Dash-8 aircrafts. “We are currently hiring, but only out of Virtual Eastern’s Roster, we plan to make our staff positions an experience gainer, once a position opens with Virtual Eastern, they will be recommended before anyone else for the job,” said Ortiz.
The new airline is expected to begin full operations Early January 2006.
