Executives at MetroAir’s converted Detroit-based warehouse offices officially released the opening date of MetroAir Airlines. Ticket sales began this afternoon at 1:00pm EST.
While exact numbers have not been released, MetroAir COO Stuart Johnston commented, "We are close to selling out of tickets for our first flight from Detroit to Burbank Los Angeles, and this is just the beginning."
MetroAir flies a small fleet of Boeing 737-200ADVs and Bombardier Dash 8-Q200s serving cities in the Northeast as well as further afield to places such as Denver and Los Angeles (Burbank).
Detroit competitor Northwest and American Airlines declined to comment. Further news is expected within the week.
