Today Alaska Virtual opened its doors, after months of very hard work by both staff and pilots.
"I am very pleased with the staff’s work on the VA so far. They are the ones that have kept this thing rolling, and on behalf of everybody here at the corporate office, thank you," stated CEO and Chairman of the Board Jonathan Thurston tonight at a press conference.
"I think everybody can agree though, its time to get to the fun."
Alaska Virtual is in its fourth month of being on the design table, and operates under full knowlege of the real world counterpart. The Virtual Airline offers many things to make the pilots job that much easier and enjoyable. We use the brand new ePirep pilot reporting system, which can be opened up right from flight simulator! We also have a lively and friendly forum, events department, training department, and fleet department.
New projects that are coming up include, but are not limited to, divisions for Alaska’s affiliates, a teamspeak or ventrilo server, and an in house E-zine. There are also many other new projects that are coming soon too, including the opening of our Portland hub.
Alaska Virtual is a new virtual airline based out of three hubs: Anchorage, Seattle, and Los Angeles. It operates a fleet of 737 200/400/700/800/900 and MD80 series. Our regional carrier, Horizon Virtual, operates a fleet of Q200, Q400, and CRJ-700s.
