Coming Soon to London… SmartAir

London Stansted Airport will soon have a new virtual airline calling it home, this after officials at the soon to open SmartAir made the announcement at a news conference.

The carrier will operate just one aircraft in its fleet, the Boeing 737-800, all once belonging to the former Sun Airways which shut down earlier this year. Officials hope to make the new carrier different from other virtual airlines by making it a low cast airline. Instead of flying to major airports, the new SmartAir will fly to smaller airports such as Frankfurt Hahn.

“SmartAir, I feel is an airline which people will just want to fly with time and time again due to the little extra frills and the guaranteed low fares,” commented Jamie Taylor, CEO.

Currently SmartAir has not released a date for opening, but did tell the VA Flash that September was a target date. The carrier also has purchased a domain name, but no website is online for the airline.
