Today it was officially announced that the Virtual United States Space Program, the second longest running virtual space agency has permanently ceased operations and has closed its doors. The VUSSP, founded in 2001 has been operating for nearly five years and has made great discoveries in the name of science and has accomplished a number of technological feats during its five-year run.
The agency is the first virtual space agency to successfully place an orbital space station in earth orbit, has launched more unmanned missions (40+) than any other virtual space agency and has continuously researched next generation space vehicles to benefit future space initiavites.
"It is unfortunate that the VUSSP had to close. The VUSSP was a wonderful organization that accomplished a great many feats and its reputation and record will certainly live on, " a VUSSP spokesperson said to vaFlash.com reporters.
"In the five years that I have been at the helm of the organization from its infancy to its close this year, I have had both the honor and priviledge of working with a great many individuals from inside the Virtual Community, NASA, and those in the Aeronautic Aviation and Engineering community world-wide. It has been a unique experience for myself and while it feels as if a chapter in my life has come to an unfortunate close, I will be pushing forward with another project to fill the VUSSP's place, " CEO Kayamone Sutton said.
It is unclear whether or not VUSSP founder Sutton plans on starting a new virtual space agency but speculation has it that he is lending his expertise to Motis Virtual Jet Design, an aeronautical company and an undisclosed company.
