The Hawaii Express, a virtual airline that intends to re-create the early 1980′s real world airline, has announced that it will be opening in ‘a matter of few weeks’, according to Peter McKay, CEO of the new airline.The real world equivalent operated between Los Angeles and Hawaii with a single 747-100 and a pair of DC-10′s. The virtual airline expands the service to include connections in Hawaii with DC-9′s.
“In addition to the Honolulu service from Los Angeles, service to Kailua-Kona is in the process of being established, ” Mr McKay said. “With the opening of the airline service from San Francisco to both Honolulu and Kailua-Kona will also be in place,” he added, and “several more inter-island routes” are to be expected.
The airline will be run by a number of VA experienced people, including former VA CEO’s and aircraft designers.
