On 28th of August 2008, Alaska Airlines officially ceased operations of all MD80′s as they are officially retired and are being replaced by 737-800′s and other 737s. To reflect the real world operations of ASA, Virtual Alaska Airlines at Bourne Aviation will also discontinue the aircraft.
However, the president of Bourne Aviation, Mr. Brandon Farris is planning to work on a “Classic Alaska Airlines” VA which will involve the historic flights and aircraft of the airline.
Says Mr. Farris, “Still for now, we do have a lot of Virtual Airlines in the alliance which offer the McDonnell aircraft.”
Virtual Aerolineas Argentinas, Virtual Delta Airlines and Virtual Scandinavian Airlines together offer MD-80, MD-81, MD-82, MD-83, MD-87 and MD-88.
