Canadian Xpress October Fly-In – Northern Lights

The bright dancing lights of the aurora borealis (Northern Lights) are actually collisions between electrically charged particles from the sun that enter the earth’s atmosphere. The lights are seen above the magnetic poles of the northern and southern hemispheres. 2013 is the peak period of an eleven year cycle.

Canadian Xpress® would like to invite all pilots & virtual airlines to join us with your favorite turbo-prop on Saturday, October 19th at 21h00edt (Sunday 01h00z) for our October 2013 fly-in where in this season of Northern lights chasing, we will depart Iqaluit (CYFB) in Nunavut Canada and head north east to Thule Air Base (BGTL) in Greenland. We will fly in real time conditions as Flight Simulator does simulate the Aurora Borealis.

This is an open invitation to all pilots no matter what your flying experience to attend this Canadian Xpress® sponsored event that will be flown on the VATSIM network.

More information regarding this event including operational details, charts, optional add-on scenery and the Canadian Xpress SB Model Set can be viewed by visiting http://canadianxpress.ca/ or by directly downloading our Fly-In document here.

See you all on Saturday the 19th!
