Telluride Regional Airport at an elevation of 9,078 feet above sea level, was the highest commercial airport in North America with scheduled passenger flights, until Great Lakes Airlines ended service in 2014.
The runway is on a plateau and still dips slightly in the center, although the dip was more pronounced prior to a renovation in 2009. It can be a challenging but beautiful approach for pilots. Over the last 5½ years, Canadian Xpress has visited some of the most amazing airports around the world. From time to time, we are going to hold a Throwback event of some of our earlier flights, so those pilots who are new to the flight simulator world can enjoy our past adventures. Canadian Xpress May Fly-In – Kamchatka
Kamchatka is a peninsula situated in the Russian Far East. It is situated near two tectonic plates and therefore shows a rather high volcanic activity. The Volcanoes of Kamchatka have been declared a National Park and were recognized as an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1996. Volcanoes are the main attractions of the Kamchatka in which the largest active volcanoes are located on the peninsula – Shiveluch, Klyuchevskoy, Ichinsky, Koryaksky, Avachinsky, Karymsky and Kronotsky.
