At a press conference which was held earlier today the Sun Airways
President, Jamie Taylor, told journalists that with his and the plans
of the other members of management are sure to make Sun Airways a
success for both our flying staff and our virtual passengers.
"The new slogan explains it all, " Mr Taylor said. "I and the other
members of my team have drawn up plans which will hopefully make Sun
Airways one of the world’s leading virtual airlines. Of course there
will always be bigger and better VA’s than Sun Airways but I hope that
Sun can be described as one of the better ones."
The new projects that are to be under taken include the introduction of
Sun Airways Citixpress. The Citixpress flights will be the new
operating name for all domestic flights within the United Kingdom. The
flights will be operated by Boeing 737-700 aircraft from London Gatwick
and from Glasgow Prestwick. There will be also a twice week day service
from Bristol using a Boeing 737-800. On the Subject of Bristol, Sun
Airways is proud to announce Bristol as its third U.K base.
The airline plans to base two Boeing 737-800s and fly to the following
destinations: Amsterdam, Edinburgh, Geneva, Frankfurt, Barcelona,
Alicante, Malaga, Berlin, Paris, Prague and Warsaw. In order to get
optimum usage of our aircraft we have introduced a 40 minute turn
around time for most of our services to and from Bristol and a 30
minute turn around, again for most of our Glasgow Prestwick flights.
This policy will be piloted on our London Gatwick services but will not
be introduced until the middle of the first quarter in 2006.
Glasgow Prestwick will also receive a boost in flights. Three Boeing
737-700s will be based there and will operate to: Bristol, Jersey,
Cork, Bournmouth, Dublin, Copenhagen, Rome, Milan, Zurich, Frankfurt,
Paris and Alicante. The schedules for these services will be available
when the airline reopens on January 2nd 2006.
"It has been decided that our Long Haul flights will not start
operating until quarter 2 of 2006. This decision was taken in order to
have our livery applied to most of our long haul fleet." The long haul
fleet will consist of: Boeing 747-400s, Boeing 777-200LRs and Boeing
777-300ERs.
The details of the long haul fleet come just hours after another London
Gatwick airline released the details of orders for their American
Division. Jamie Taylor said: "These orders are in two ways associated
with Air Lambert’s decision to order these aircraft. Our desicion was
reached just a few days before it was released."
The President then commented that the 777-300ERs will be leased from
SAVALC, a partner of Sun Airways. The 777-200LRs were ordered back when
the airline was owned by the 3D Group. For the 747-400s, an order was
placed in October for them. Sun Airways currently owns one 747-400
which is currently being maintained and having new interiors fitted.
