The deal which will go into full effect on December 24, 2005 gives Nimrea Virtual Airways a 51% stake in Uno Airways. Officials report the move will allow Nimrea to operate into Europe, more economically than without a European partner.
Chairman & CEO Jon Chambers of Uno Airways commented, ”This will strengthen Uno’s future in the European market. Being financialy supported by Nimrea will ensure our expansion throughout the European market. We are also looking forward to working with the Nimrea management team to make Uno the best airline we can.”
Uno Airways plans to adopt Nimrea’s exsisting ‘Majestic Rewards’ scheme, but will operate and retain it’s own brand, however some changes to the routes that both airlines operate may be announced in the coming days.
"I am very pleased by the result of our negotiations, and feel that Nimrea and Uno are much stronger by this new arrangement. I am aware that some people may be confused why an airline in Australia and one in Europe may need to merge, however we feel that this offers variety to pilots as they can fly a number of routes around Australia as well as Europe. I look forward to our partnership," commented CEO Blake Moore of Nimrea Virtual Airways.
