Air Belgium orders Bombardier Dash 8

Today the Air Belgium management mentioned their intention of replacing the ATR fleet by new Bombardier Dash 8 aircrafts.

"After a thorough investigation we have found out that the Dash 8 is a more efficient plane and fits our needs better. It complements our Bombardier CRJ jets on regional operations excellent and is easier to fly for our pilots. The use of these planes will also have an impact on passenger comfort since they are more quiet and spacious than our current ATR fleet" said CEO Danny Stes during the press conference.

The order will contain a firm order for 4 Bombardier Dash 8 Q400, 2 Bombardier Dash 8 Q300 and 5 Bombardier Dash 8 Q200 with an option on 10 more.
These planes will replace the current fleet of 11 ATR’s (8 ATR42-500 and 3 ATR72-500) and will be delivered throughout 2006 with the first delivery scheduled for February.
