As the northern hemisphere is less than a week away from its Summer holidays, Platinum Airways, the very virtual Open Skies airline, is preparing its next Destination of the Week theme, “Food For Thought”. The DOTW theme will take pilots to nine airports serving a town whose name was derived from a world famous food.
Food for thought will offer Platinum Airways’ pilots a full menu. Pilots are called to their table with an aperitif, the Boston Cooler (KBOS). For a starter, Platinum Airways will serve Parma Ham (LIMP). There is a wide choice of main courses: Peking Duck (ZBAA), Hamburger (EDDH), Chicago Deep Dish Pizza (KORD), and Kobe Beef (RJBE). All these main dishes are accompanied by a Bordeaux (LFBD) wine. For dessert, Platinum Airways suggests Wiener pastry and coffee (LOWW). Food for thought will be concluded with a digestif, Port wine (LPPR). Pilots flying to Food For Thought DOTW destinations will be able to download navigational charts, and will be provided with links to scenery files (FS2004, FSX and X-Plane) and other aids. If only payware additional sceneries are on offer, Platinum Airways usually succeeds in negotiating favourable conditions for its members for the specific destination’s duration. Pilots visiting a current DOTW are rewarded with a 5% bonus. Past DOTW’s remain available to pilots through an archive system.
About Platinum Airways:
Keen to deliver on its mission to keep the fun in the hobby, Platinum Airways is probably the only virtual airline to combine an Open Skies policy, allowing its pilots to fly any mission of their choice with the aircraft of their choice at the time of their choice, with a strategic hub network. The carefully selected hubs, Newark (KEWR), Dallas-Fort Worth (KDFW), Vancouver (CYVR), Perth (YPPH) and Brussels (EBBR), should be attractive to a global membership. In addition, Platinum Airways offers its pilots an often cheeky Destination of the Week and Relief and Military Missions. Sticking to the KISS principle (Keep It Straight and Simple), Platinum Airways hosts an active forum and a screen shot of the week competition, with the winner providing the main picture on its home page for the next week.
