Canadian Xpress® July Fly-In – Isle of Man

July_2014_FlyIn

The International Isle of Man TT (Tourist Trophy) Race is a motorcycle racing event held on the Isle of Man that was for many years the most prestigious motorcycle race in the world. The event was part of the FIM Motorcycle Grand Prix World Championship during the period 1949–1976 before being transferred to the United Kingdom after safety concerns.

Today the Isle of Man TT fuelled by Monster Energy is the most demanding road race in World. Run on a 37 mile public road course in a time trial format. No other motorcycle race is held on such a challenging track. A Mountain Course with its seemingly never-ending series of bends, bumps, jumps, stone walls, manhole covers and telegraph poles, makes for an exciting race and very deadly as well. Average lap speeds of 130mph+ have been Continue reading

Caal Airways Monthly Update for July 2014

Caal

Caalair has had a fantastic moth for June. With new members joining and getting flights on the board very quickly. Opening on the 1st of July was our new hub as Kingsford Smith International, Sydney(YSSY). Many routes have been added and waiting on the arrival of the new aircraft. Caalair also has a current tour for the World Cup 2014 visiting the venues and watching some games. We welcomed a new Fleet Manager after the position became vacant when our long running former Fleet Manager retired the position to further his other interests. All at Caalair wish him well in the future. Our fleet is currently undergoing a refit and receiving a new paint job. Our new look will be featured in the August issue of Clover Flight.

Platinum Airways Scores a Goooooooool

PlatinumGoal2014

Platinum Airways, the very virtual Open Skies airline, has announced its next Destination of the Week series. With Goooooooool, Platinum Airways hopes to score at the 2014 FIFA World Cup currently underway in Brazil.

Only people who are locked off from reality won’t know that the 2014 FIFA World Cup is being played in Brazil at the moment. With football (or soccer, as the sport is also known) arguably being the world’s most popular sport, Platinum Airways simply has to be present. The DOTW theme, Goooooooool, marks the Latin American way of celebrating a goal. Goooooooool kicks off at Brasilia (SBBR), the capital city of Brazil and a World Cup host city. The second Goooooooool DOTW takes us to the legendary Maracana stadium in Rio de Janeiro, where the final will be played on 13 July. In line with Platinum Airways’ tradition to go for the unexpected, the DOTW is not Rio’s major international airport, but Santos Dumont Airport (SBRJ) with its short runway and difficult approach. And as far as the third and final Goooooooool DOTW is concerned: we don’t know yet, because it will take us to the airport of the winning country’s capital city. We do expect our flight crew to remain sober during the flight, and leave the celebrating to the passengers.

As usual, DOTW offers charts to be downloaded and links to Continue reading
