Virtual Pakistan International Airlines (VPIA), Pakistan’s only VATSIM certified virtual airline, has held the first ever Pakistan fly in, on April 3rd. The event organised by VPIA was supported on an official scale by VATAsia, VATME, VATIndia and a number of virtual airlines, including MEA Virtual, Arabian Virtual Airlines, Cathay Pacific Virtual, Singapore Virtual Airlines, Air India Virtual and Indian Airlines Virtual.
The organizer of the event, Ahmed Ahsen, on behalf of VPIA thanked all participants of this first fly in held in history – more than 65 flights were handled by two excellent controllers, Kamal Bhatti at Karachi and Sheheryar Ansari at Lahore, making this fly in one of the largest ever in the Middle East and South Asia region. Virtual Pakistan International Airlines (VPIA) have successfully completed negotiations for the lease of a Boeing 737-900ER. Registration details not available as yet.
The aircraft is currently in Frankfurt undergoing ‘D’ checks and maintenance, before being handed over to VPIA. The previous operator is unknown, though it is strongly rumored to be KLM VA.
The aircraft is rumored to be painted in a special livery with F1 markings in support of the Italian F1 team, Manardi. The Aircraft is expected to be delivered to VPIA within the coming weeks to feature in our F1 Season Schedules. Continue reading
