It is that time of the year! Sinterklaas is coming. He traditionally arrives in the Netherlands each year in mid-November (the first Saturday after 11 November) by steamboat from Spain. He then parades through the streets on his horse, welcomed by children cheering and singing traditional Sinterklaas songs. His Zwarte Piet assistants throw candy and small, round, gingerbread-like cookies, called either kruidnoten or pepernoten, into the crowd. The event is broadcast live on national television in the Netherlands and Belgium.
After this national arrival, all towns with a dock usually celebrate their own intocht van Sinterklaas (arrival of Sinterklaas). Local arrivals usually take place later on the same Saturday of the national arrival, the next Sunday (the day after he arrives in the Netherlands or Belgium), or one weekend after the national arrival. In places a boat cannot reach, Sinterklaas arrives by train, horse, horse-drawn carriage or even a fire truck.
And this year the pilots of CityLink are going to help out. We have arranged flights to Continue reading
LOS ANGELES, CA – MetroAir Virtual Airlines announced Friday their intentions to move their West Coast hub from Ontario International Airport (KONT), to Los Angeles International Airport (KLAX), 40 miles to the west.
Ontario was opened shortly after MetroAir began operation in 2005 and built its role as the airlines’ West Coast hub. As the airline grew, Ontario followed suit, eventually becoming MetroAir’s second busiest airport by number of daily operations. However, Ontario International Airport was built as a reliever airport for LAX, and was never meant to be the hub of a national airline. Due to small terminals and limited international facilities at Ontario, MetroAir shifted all Southern California international operations to LAX in early 2014. MetroAir was welcomed into the LAX market with promising numbers in their new LAX-Shanghai service, as well as favorable results to major domestic markets such as Chicago, Houston, Dallas, and Seattle.
Due to the separation of domestic and international operations, connecting passengers were placed on dedicated Allegius “shuttle” flights between Ontario and LAX. As expected, complications of adding another flight to passengers’ itineraries occurred and MetroAir executives Continue reading
Triggered by the current number of inactive pilots Pioneer Virtual Airlines has decided on a reorganization plan.
The current number of active pilots warrants a good look at the current structure of the VA.
The most important change is that Pioneer VA will be an AirHauler 2 virtual Airline for FSX pilots. AirHauler 2 will be an integral part of the airline for FSX pilots. Pilots will be able to join and fly for Pioneer VA without AirHauler2 but for the complete experience when flying in FSX AirHauler 2 is advised.
For FS9 FSPassenger and AirHauler are advised. This change will influence ranks and Continue reading
