Just a few weeks ago the 34th America’s Cup conclude in San Francisco. Oracle Team USA (skippered by a New Zealander) successfully defended all challengers to keep the cup on US soil for 4 more years. However, their challenger Team New Zealand, a team with less than a third of the operating budget of Team USA, took the US team to task pushing the series to its maximum of 17 races.
This month, your job is to fly the members of Team New Zealand home in style. From San Francisco (KSFO), you will load the 53 members of Team New Zealand on board the Canadian Xpress® Concorde which is available to all pilots regardless of rank, but only for the challenge for the return trip to Auckland (NZAA). The Concorde doesn’t Continue reading

It gives me great pleasure to announce to you that Kim Stolt has been promoted to Chief Pilot and EVP of Training in addition to his other duties effective September 15.
Kim flies jets for a living and is an FAA certified flight instructor. He has over 8,000 hours of flight time at WestWind. He has been involved in leadership at WestWind longer than I can remember. He is one of only a handful of pilots at WW that I consider to be qualified for this job.
This promotion has been in the works for a few months, but we wanted to give Kim some time with his family over the summer months before taking on new responsibilities.
Kim, replaces Ed Ward, Jr. who had held the position since the early days of the airline. A few months ago, Ed decided it was time to retire. Ed did a superb job for WestWind and he will be missed. He will forever be remembered as one of the pioneers of the airline.
Please help me welcome Kim as he takes us into the next chapter of the airline.

President

Platinum Airways, the very virtual Open Skies airline, has announced its September Destination of the Week theme. Following its nine Great Gigs in the Sky during the summer holidays, Platinum Airways is taking its pilots to four leading Detox and Wellness centres in as many continents.
Platinum Airways’ summer holidays have been particularly exhausting for its DOTW regulars, with thousands of miles covered to visit leading music festivals around the world. That led to the September theme: Detox. We are convinced that our pilots urgently need to recharge their batteries, and what better way to do that than to visit four leading detox and wellness centres. We took our guidance from four leading publications and organisations, such as Forbes Magazine and Condé Nast.
Detox starts at the SHA Wellness Clinic in Spain’s Alicante region and its obvious Alicante-Elche Airport (LEAL). The second detox treatment will take place at The Farm near San Benito in the Philippines. The best access to that centre is via Clark International Airport (RPLC). Third up is the One&Only Spa Reethi Rah on the Maldives, which takes us to Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (VRMM). We end Detox with a visit to the Indian Himalayas and the Ananda Spa, near Continue reading
Garuda Indonesia Virtual announces our first module & practical exam using Virtual Remote Training System (VRTS) which is a brand new system develop by jBussemaker Web Development and we are the first virtual airline using this system, involved on the development project and use it as VA training & exam system. This becomes a role model of how virtual airline should be. We are not just providing a standard VA facility, but also are providing an aviation education within virtual limits! For several months, we also introduced our virtual Flight Academy page and system, recruiting instructor and restructor the education aspect of Garuda Indonesia Virtual.
The Virtual Remote Training System, or VRTS, is a complete training system built especially for virtual airlines. The VRTS runs separate from the main website, but it heavily linked to it. It uses the VA’s user accounts and trainees won’t even notice that the VRTS is a separate system.
The main feature of the VRTS is the VRTS Live system which allows trainers to track their trainee’s aircraft live via their browsers; they can see the position of the aircraft on a map, along with the positions of the tuned VORs and NDBs, the instruments of the pilot and other data.
These are the other main features of our VA Academy
- Review training sessions in 3D in Google Earth
- Advanced course managing
- Theoretical examination system
- Smooth VA Continue reading
