New Routes Announced
May 2014 will see the launch of services to five new destinations in Europe and North America. Flights to Ibiza, Lanzarote, Dalaman, Las Vegas and Cancun are expected to be launched later this year from Glasgow and Manchester.
London/Gatwick Hub Announced
Last year, freshJet asked the public to decide where their new UK base should be located, to which the majority responded London/Gatwick. It has since been decided that freshJet will establish a new base there in May 2014. Initially, 2 Airbus A320s will be based at Gatwick, and will operate to Glasgow, Belfast, Manchester, Amsterdam, Alicante, Palma, Malaga and Tenerife South. Long-haul operations are expected to begin in July, using Airbus A330-300 aircraft to Orlando.
Belfast International Hub to Close
Despite its initial success, our Belfast base has declined rapidly in recent years and has since become our smallest hub, with only one aircraft based there. freshJet management have concluded that the Belfast hub will be officially closed in May 2014. Belfast will however continue to be served from other UK bases on domestic services, which remain popular at Belfast.
Additional Airbus A320 Order
Last month we placed an order for an additional 3 Airbus A320 aircraft, bringing the total A320 family fleet size to 11. The aircraft will be deployed alongside the existing fleet on routes from the UK to a variety of destinations.
In addition, we expect to take delivery of our second A330 prior to the S14 season.
Low-cost airline freshJet is seeking new staff members as part of a re-development. The following roles are available:
- Operations Manager
- Training Director

Flight deck recruitment also remains open for our Airbus A320 and A330 aircraft.
freshJet is a low-cost airline operating Airbus A319, A320 and A330 aircraft from hubs in Belfast, Glasgow and Manchester to a variety of destinations across Europe and the USA. Currently undergoing a major development programme, freshJet will expand it’s European and long-haul operations in 2014 and increase fleet size by 3-5 aircraft. As part of the development project, a new website will be released in December 2013 with both new and upgraded features, offering an innovative experience for crew and staff alike.

The aircraft will be configured in a 2-class configuration with a seating capacity of 335 passengers.
CEO Iain Robb had this to say:
“While it’s a tremendous challenge moving into the long-haul market, I feel that the time is right and that our long-haul destinations will be a tremendous success for the airline as we can offer yet more new routes to our passengers. Our two-class configuration on board is a unique product for us as a low-cost carrier which we hope will help to make us stand out in the low-cost market. Passengers will have the choice between Economy and Premium Economy products and we hope that the latter will help to establish ourselves as a high-quality airline.”
The initial delivery is expected in August 2013.
Summer 2013 will also see more expansion for freshJet. New services to Gdansk, Venice, Split, Budapest, Athens and and Rome will also contribute to our continuing success in the European short-haul market.
“Our new European routes for Summer 2013 will only contribute to further success for us. Our new routes allow us to expand further into Eastern and Southern Europe, including both holiday destinations and city break opportunities.” added CEO Iain Robb.
