Virtual United Airlines June Status

We experienced much improvement to our front-end product in the month of May. This month’s highlights include an exclusive partnership with REX Game Studios and the release of vUAL 2.0 (a new ACARS and website platform). With these upgrades we are making several improvements and coordinating with our pilots for an optimized virtual experience. Our efforts as we look forward are to best suit our pilots needs and to create a unique and engaging environment.

vUnited 2.0 www.virtualua.org
Our staff team took the time to sit down and rethink our website/ACARS platform in order to renovate and create a modern design while improving usability. Please find the linked feature article on the new website and ACARS (http://www.virtualua.org/contrails/Special%20Edition%20(Final).pdf). This new site will bring our members more eye-candy and functionality for all stages of virtual aviation from preflight to filing your PIREPS.

Partnerships
The cornerstone of vUnited’s values is creating a strong relationship with other developers and organizations in the community. We would like to thank our numerous partners and their efforts to help benefit both of our organizations! This month vUnited rolled out a new partnership with REX Game Studios. This new agreement will give our pilots access to company discounts through the vUnited Pilot Shop. We are also continuing to work towards ATO status with VATSIM upon the upcoming release of our Training Center.

Platinum Airways Visits Islands in the Sun

Platinum Airways will be visiting Islands in the Sun in its June Destination of the Week series. Island in the Sun presents a nice mix of easy going and extremely difficult approaches in the Caribbean and Pacific.

As the northern hemisphere’s summer holidays are only a month away, Platinum Airways management deemed it fit to prepare its pilots for the big exodus towards the sun. We have selected five destinations with a varying level of difficulty. The series starts with a long flight to Won Pat (PGUM) on Guam Island. The second Island in the Sun is Saint Barthélemy aka St Barts and its Gustaf III Airport (TFFJ), a regular top contender in dangerous approaches competitions. The third Island in the Sun destination is Kahului (PHOG), Hawaii’s second busiest airport. From there, we fly to Melville Hall (TDPD) on Dominica, another difficult approach. The final Island in the Sun will allow our pilots to relax: Bonriki (NGTA) on Kiribati Island in the Pacific.

DOTW missions qualify for a 5% bonus if completed within the allotted time span. They come with charts, links to scenery files for FS9, FSX and X-Plane if available, and a selection of YouTube videos.

About Platinum Airways:
Keen to deliver on its mission to keep the fun in the Continue reading

SparkJet Virtual Receives VATSIM Certification, Announces Expansion Plans!

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida — SparkJet announced today that VATSIM has made SparkJet a member Virtual Airline, an achievement that many virtual airlines don’t ever achieve. With the certification, SparkJet is now recognized as a top virtual airline operating on an excellent and professional network.

In other news, SparkJet announced that it has officially opened the new crew bases in CYYC and SCEL. “These new bases and operations enable SparkJet to introduce the world with a superior product for a lower cost, bringing joy back to flying” was what SparkJet CEO Zeke Elias said during the press conference. Currently the bases operate with four and two B737-600 aircraft respectively, with plans for further expansion and upgrading if there is enough demand.

SparkJet’s management team has also been traveling back and forth to Sydney, Australia during the past two months and have placed requests with the Australian government for authorization to begin service from YSSY to points around the country. When asked, Zeke Elias stated “We are all ready to begin service, all we need is approval and ferrying of the aircraft which should occur later this week.” In order to support the operation Boeing has leased SparkJet two B747-400′s for service to OMDB, YSSY and RJAA.

SparkJet is still actively working in expanding its operations at SCEL, CYYZ and YSSY. SparkJet  is still taking applications for First Officers out of their KABQ or KFLL Hubs or their focus cities in KSFO, KJFK, CYYC and SCEL, interested?
